One Leg Supporting the Weight of the Body...

At one time, 10 classical statues of Greek gods stood in the 10 niches of the Robert Adam designed Long Gallery. We invited a group of nine artists to create contemporary sculptures, inspired by the originals and Croome itself, to sit in the same niches. The tenth niche is to be an artist-led engagement project with Croome's volunteers.

The title of the exhibition, One Leg Supporting the Weight of the Body, the Other Slightly Bent, is the translation of the Italian word contrapposto (literally 'counterpoise'), to describe the pose of classical statues.

I have found working with you has challenged some of my previous perceptions and even made me rethink long held views - something not many people have done!!
